Cold Water is for Everyone!
/Snorkeling and scuba diving are great experiences and I'm sure you just can't wait to get on a vacation during this cold season and go down to some tropical beach and explore the world beneath the waves; but perhaps there is a closer, less expensive alternative to tropical destinations.
Snorkeling and scuba diving in cold water is extremely popular, especially in fresh water lakes in higher elevations. It can be an amazing experience, and if you properly prepare, it can be comfortable too.
To go along with your snorkel, mask, and fins, you will want a full wetsuit to wear along with a hoodie, boots, and gloves. These are essential to provide the most warmth as you are snorkeling and scuba diving.
The cold water is not something to trifle with. It is always better to be prepared with warm clothing when you go snorkeling in cold water. You don't want to have your experience cut short because you can't feel your feet or start getting too cold over all.
There are many great places to explore underwater that have cold temperatures. From Silfra, Iceland to the water park in Austria, to fresh lakes in the Rocky Mountains, there are great places to go snorkeling and scuba diving.
So grab your wet suit and a Kapitol Reef Snorkel Set and get out on a local vacation to your nearest body of water and see what you can find below the surface!
