Area Tips
Puako Bay offers great snorkeling, but it is also very challenging. Puako Bay is two miles long, with shallow shorelines to explore. However entry and exit can be diffucult for beginners. Wind and swell tend to pick up by noon, so come early for a safe and enjoyable experience.

Marine Life in Puako Bay:
- Turtles
- Eels
- Large pufferfish
- Yellow Tang
- Raccon, oval, four spot and rnate butterlfy fish
- Chance of reef shark in deeper waters
Amenities
The only amenities you will find at Puako Bay are restrooms and shade. There is a market and showers near Wai'alea beach though.
Accessibility
Head north on highway 19 until you see the sign for Puako. Turn towards the ocean on Puako Road. There are several access trails that lead to the beach. The first access road takes you to the Puako boat ramp, as well as plenty of parking.
