Mau'u Mae Beach is secluded and relatively undeveloped. You'll find calm and clear waters, and very few crowds.

Mau'u Mae Beach offers no facilities, but you can venture north to Spencer Park  for showers and restrooms. Kauna'oa Beach also offers showers and restrooms.

Head north on Highway 19 to the Mauna Kea entrance. After stopping at the guard station drive down the hill and take the third right. This road looks like a hotel entance with signs that say private road. However, continue on this road. Pass through a chain link fence. The road becomes narrow, and crosses over two small wooden bridges. Drive about 1/4 mile and park. Near phone pole #22, there is a small path that leads though bushes to the ocean. When you come to a sign reading "Ala Kahaka", turn left. Continue on through some trees and you will see the beach.
