Area Tips
Pawai Bay, also known as Old Kona Airport Beach, can be a bit challenging for beginners. Entry can be quite difficult with slippery rocks and spikey sea urchins wich are abundant here. Be sure to only enter when conditions are safe and calm. Coral is sparse near the shore, but you can snorkel to the right and around the point where there is a rocky ledge to explore.

Accessibility
From Palani Road in Kona, head north on Kuakini Highway. As you are heading north on Kuakini, the road will eventually turn into the old airport landing strip. Drive in the landing strip to the far end and park. From here, you walk down a short path to the beach.
